Steven J. Proctor joined AAM in March 1994 serving as Manager, GM Programs. In June 1995, he was named Director, General Motors Programs and in June 1996 he was appointed Director, Strategic Planning. In January 1998, he served as Director, Worldwide Programs. Proctor was named President and Chief Operating Officer of AAM do Brasil in 1999 and returned to the United States in 2003 where he was named Executive Director, Driveline Sales & Marketing. Prior to assuming his current position, Proctor was named Vice President, Sales & Marketing in 2004.

Proctor began his automotive engineering career in 1974 with General Motors in the company’s co-op program. During his 20 years at GM, Proctor’s experience spanned technical positions with increasing responsibility in product and industrial engineering, production, and material management at the Saginaw Division. Proctor moved into sales as a Sales Engineer with GM’s Steering Systems Business Unit. He was later appointed Sales Account Manager for the Final Drive and Forge Unit.

Proctor holds a bachelor of science degree in manufacturing administration from Western Michigan University.
