e-AAM Hybrid and Electric Driveline Systems                    

As a technology leader, AAM set out to engineer, develop and commercialize electric all-wheel-drive and hybrid driveline systems for passenger cars and crossover vehicles. The e-AAM product line combines fuel-efficient, low-carbon-footprint drive system components with enhanced traction and stability controls in a flexible, modular package for ease of OEM integration. 

 

 

EcoTracTM Disconnecting All Wheel Drive System                    

AAM EcoTrac is the future of all-wheel drive. Because EcoTrac operates in front wheel drive mode under normal driving conditions, overall vehicle fuel economy is enhanced in comparison to many other all-wheel-drive systems. When poor traction conditions are encountered, EcoTrac applies a wet clutch in the rear drive module and engages all wheel drive in a smooth and seamless manner that is virtually invisible to the vehicle operator. Engineered to automatically sense torque, EcoTrac varies the amount of power delivered to the wheels to best maintain traction, while optimizing efficiency.

 

High Efficiency Axles

High Efficiency Axles can reduce axle-related energy loss by up to 50%. The axles, which are certain to become a major player in the quest for better fuel economy and trouble free operation, achieve high efficiency through reduced friction. This friction reduction is achieved by means of advanced PowerDense® hypoid gear sets with optimum gear geometry, enhanced gear tooth surface finishes, high efficiency bearings and special proprietary lubricants, including AAM PowerFilm®, which is formulated to reduce operating friction, resulting in less energy loss.
