American Axle & Manufacturing’s Auburn Hills Manufacturing Facility (AHM) welcomed U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and Michigan Governor Rick Snyder for a discussion on potential changes to tax legislation.

More than 300 AAM associates, government representatives, media and guests, attended the event which was hosted by David C. Dauch, AAM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Mike Simonte, AAM President.

Opening the day, Dauch welcomed and thanked Pence, Snyder and all the guests for attending the event. He also talked about AAM’s commitment to Michigan and the U.S. including more than 4,000 Michigan associates and 11,000 U.S. associates working in 49 facilities.

“We are proud of our U.S. heritage and even prouder of our Michigan roots,” Dauch said.

That commitment was recognized by Snyder, who called AAM an outstanding example of a Michigan company that has only been in existence for 20 some years but has seen significant success.

During his speech, Pence thanked AAM for hosting the event and helping to drive innovation and excellence in the auto industry.

“American Axle you are the engine in American growth,” Pence said.

That growth includes investing nearly $30 million in AHM, which encompasses two manufacturing facilities that specialize in metal forming and utilize state-of-the art forging presses coupled with world-class prototype and high-volume production machining equipment.

AAM has also invested more than $150 million in AAM’s U.S. facilities. Globally, the company operates in 17 countries at almost 100 facilities with more than 25,000 associates.
